Here’s what I have for tonight so far…
Earlier today, Eric Holder revealed that the Pakistani Taliban were responsible for the failed Times Square bombing. It’s 8 1/2 years after September 11 and the problems are still spreading out from the same place, the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan, but we’re still not really doing anything serious to stop it.
The World Cup starts on June 11. South Africa is getting everything it needs to be ready when balls start being kicked. That includes prostitutes, and bad songs by Shakira. Right now parts of the world that care about soccer are apoplectic about how bad this song is. I agree, but it’s for soccer, what did you expect? Kim Kardashian may still be recovering from her brush with death after colliding with Justin Bieber at the White House Correspondents dinner, and the Russians going soft on pirates.
House Republicans Inspired by the Taliban Insurgency
Congressman Pete Sessions of Texas said yesterday that the Taliban can give Republicans a model of how to battle Democrats over the stimulus package. No doubt, brilliant words from a brilliant man. Comparing your struggle to that of an enemy we are currently at war with is always sound political philosophy. Let us hope that the Democrats are equally determined and can respond with their own insurgency, modeled after the Viet Cong. I, for one, am going to focus on seizing the rest of today, like the British seized Manhattan in November, 1776.
